Europe / Estonia

Rare card from the Soviet occupation period. 

Parnu is located on the Gulf of Riga, with Kilingi-Nömme 30 miles to the southeast.

Both towns were occupied by Soviet forces from April 1940 until the German invasion in July 1941, then retaken by the Soviets in mid-1944 as they headed west toward Poland and Germany.

There never were any special Estonia stamps during the Soviet occupation; only Soviet Union stamps, identified by their postmark dates and towns.
