Germany / Third Reich (1933-1945)

This is a complete Germann Temporary Alien's Passport (Vorläufiger Fremdenpass) in WW II.
Holder was Georg Werbitzky (also spelled Werbitski), a 16-year-old student born on April 19, 1928.
The document explicitly lists his status as stateless (Staatenlos). His place of birth is recorded as Mitrovica (present-day Kosovska Mitrovica, Kosovo), indicating an origin in Southeastern Europe.
It is issued on September 9, 1944, by the Police President (Department for Alien Affairs) in Linz, Austria (then part of Nazi Germany's Gau Oberdonau).

The issuance of this document to a young, stateless foreign minor in Linz late in the war strongly indicates he was registered under the Nazi regime's system for foreign labor control. The official file number prefix "AEL" on pages 1 and 7 likely points to an Arbeitserziehungslager (Work Education Camp for young adolescents) or a specialized foreign worker registration office.
The permit granted a temporary right of residence within Germany until September 1946 but strictly barred him from border zones (Grenzzone) to prevent escape or espionage.
