Germany / WWII Occupations (1939-1945)

This historical document is a censored prisoner’s envelope sent from the Flossenbürg Concentration Camp during World War II.

The Sender is Jan Kozierkiewicz (born January 9, 1907, in Sosnowiec). He was deported to Flossenbürg on January 23, 1941, and assigned the prisoner number 2741 shown on the envelope. He was classified as a political prisoner (Schutzhäftling).
The Recipient is his relative/wife, Antonine Kozierkiewicz, living in Nazi-occupied Poland at Modrzejowska 20, Sosnowitz (Sosnowiec).
The envelope features a red 12-Pfennig German Reich stamp with Adolf Hitler's portrait, a Flossenbürg postmark, and a circular purple censor stamp from the SS mail inspection office (Postprüfstelle Flossenbürg).
The printed text on the lower left outlines the strict camp rules, limiting prisoners to sending and receiving only two heavily censored letters or postcards per month.
