1944 (7 Dec) Third Reich, Germany, Censored Cover from Niklasberg Pilsen to the Small Fortess Gestapo Prison Theresienstadt, More Details in Description

Germany / WWII Occupations (1939-1945)

This envelope, censored with a handwritten red "Z", is a rare piece of postal history from the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia during World War II, dated December 7, 1944. It documents communication between a civilian and a political prisoner held by the Nazi regime.
The letter is addressed to Josef Štrunc, a Czech citizen from Pilsen (Plzeň).
He was imprisoned in the Small Fortress Theresienstadt (Kleine Festung), specifically in Cell 16. This was not the Jewish Ghetto, but a brutal, overcrowded Gestapo prison used primarily to hold, interrogate, and torture political dissidents, resistance fighters, and saboteurs.
