Germany / Weimar Republic (1919-1932)

The first air flight from Bismarck was supposed to take place on May 2, 1931, with a purple cached "First Flight Air Mail Bismarck N.Dak." However, for some reason, the purple overprint "Held for postage" was not sent and it was sent from Bismarck only on July 9, 1931, postmark on the reverse side. Received on the ship "Europa" on July 23, 1931, postmark on the reverse side. Rectangular cached "Mit Vorausflug nach Southampton" in translation "With preliminary flight to Southampton" indicating that the letter was planned for sending catapult mail. On July 27, 1931, it was sent by catapult by mail to Southampton. Blue overprint "Deutscher Schleuderflug Dampfer "Europa" - Southampton." Arrived in Berlin on July 28, 1931.
