1875 Württemberg, German States, Germany, Cover form Ludwigsburg to Heidenheim, Rare Bridge-Type Date Postmark Ludwigsburg Bahnhof

Germany / German States

1875 Cover from Ludwigsbrug (Mar 15, 1875) to Heidenheim with arrival postmark Heidenheim (Mar 15, 1875) on reverse.

It belongs to the final "Kreuzer" currency period of Württemberg. In 1875, German postal systems were transitioning. On July 1 of that year, Württemberg switched from the Kreuzer to the Mark/Pfennig currency. This makes the cover a "late usage" piece from the final months of the old currency.

It hast also a rare "Datumbrückenstempel" (bridge-type date stamp) from the Ludwigsburg Railway Station (Ludwigsburg Bahnhof). Railway station cancels (Bahnhofsstempel) are highly sought after because they represent the logistical heart of 19th-century communication. The clarity of this specific strike, showing the full "LUDWIGSBURG BAHNHOF" text, makes it very rare.
