Field postcard Front - Home with field post standard handstamp and date 11.07.41 The sender was in the unit with field post number: 07216 F=5.Kp.Schtz.Rgt.104 The Rifle Regiment was subordinate to the 15th Panzer Division and defended from May 27th, 1941 to January 17th, 1942 the Halfaya Pass. The pass was supplied from the air (among other things with so-called supply bombs). When the supply failed, the I. Rifle Regiment and with it the Italian Unions surrender honorably. The unit became famous because of its commander: the Protestant pastor Hauptmann (later Major) d.R. William Bach. Called by the English: The Pastor of Purgatory Feldpostkarte Front-Helmat mit Feldpostnormhandstempel und Datum 11.07.41 Der Absender war in der Einheit mit der Feldpostnr.: 07216 F=5.Kp.Schtz.Rgt.104 Das Schutzen Regiment war der 15.Panzer Division unterstellt und verteidigte vom 27.05.41-17.1.42 den eingeschlossenen Halfaya Pass. Die Versorgung des Passes erfolgte aus der Luft (u.a.mit sogenannten Verpflegungsbomben). Als die Versorgung ausblieb musste das I. Schutzenregiment und mit ihr auch die ital. Verbande ehrenvoll kapitulieren. Beruhmt wurde die Einheit wegen ihres Kommandeurs : der evangelische Pastor Hauptmann (spater Major) d.R. Wilhelm Bach.
