1945 Official Folded Letter, Third Reich, Germany, Portopflichtige Dienstsache

This envelope from 1945 is a historical example of a service mail item subject to postage (Portopflichtige Dienstsache), sent in Germany shortly before the end of World War II. 

The violet service stamp at the bottom left is from the Landrat in Hechingen - Ernährungsamt (District Administrator in Hechingen - Food Office). This indicates official correspondence regarding food rationing and supply management.

The diagonal blue pencil mark "12" and the "Portopflichtige Dienstsache" postmark indicate that postage was not prepaid; instead, the fees were to be collected from the recipient upon delivery.
