1830 Prussia, Prephilately, Folded Parcel Accompaniment Letter from Langensalza to Altenburg, Wax Seal

Germany / Prephilately (... 1849)

This is a historical parcel accompaniment letter (Paketbegleitbrief) from 1830, used to send a package from Langensalza (Postmark Langensalze January 30th to Altenburg. The letter is addressed to the firm D. Steinbach & Sohn in Altenburg. This was a well-known trading house at the time.

The note "fr[ei]her S[ub] Paquet in Leinwand" indicates that the physical parcel was wrapped or sewn into linen.
The bold marks H.S. No 63 represent the shipping mark (Signum), which ensured the letter and the parcel could be matched.
The weight is recorded in the bottom right corner as "Netto 12 lb" (12 pounds).
The circular seal on the left is from the Main Customs Office (Hauptzollamt) of Langensalza, confirming customs clearance.
