1915 (October 5) censored registered international cover. From Kyiv to Copenhagen (Denmark). The cover is franked with a 10-mark parcel stamp, with a Kyiv (railway cancellation: Kyiv Station). The flap of the envelope is sealed with a purple oval seal of the Danish consulate. The letter was sent to Petrograd for censorship. On the back of the envelope is a purple rectangular stamp with the text "Opened by military censorship, Petrograd. Military censor No. 48."

Russia & Soviet Union / Russian Empire (1857-1917)

The envelope was (resealed) after inspection and sealed with a red wax seal with a Russian Imperial Eagle and the text "Petrograd military censorship." The letter arrived in Copenhagen on November 17, 1915. Censorship wax seals were introduced in August–September 1914 and were used to seal valuable correspondence after it had been reviewed by the censor, as well as registered mail if censorship revealed that it contained various securities (bills of exchange, checks, cash receipts, tickets, etc.).
