The letter transited the German Empire, transit stamp at the French border, Valenciennes, March 10. Then an unknown transit point in France on March 11 (illegible red stamp). The letter arrived in Bordeaux on March 13, 1852.

Also on the front of the envelope, handwritten mark "11" is the amount of unpaid next to the Prussian accountancy mark 'P.38.' ('P.' means PRUSSIA), used on Prussian transit mail from Poland and Russia, with destination France (the uniform rate was 11 decimes (1.1 francs).

The letter is franked with 10k, cancelled with the St. Petersburg postmark (the second type of experimental cancellation, "1" in the center). Received in Dorpat (Dorpat) on 2 June 1858, rectangular postmark on the back of the envelope. Rare - the second type of experimental cancellation was used from 19 February 1858 (the earliest known cancellation) until the end of September 1858.
