1943 (20 Jun) Third Reich, Germany, Censored Postcard of a Political Prisoner from Concentration Camp Hamburg Neuengamme to Krakow (General Gouvernement), Censorship Postmark, More Details in Description

This document is an official prisoner postcard (Häftlingspostkarte) from the Hamburg-Neuengamme concentration camp, dated June 20, 1943.
The red printed text on the front outlines the strict rules enforced by the SS camp command (Der Lagerkommandant):

Prisoners were only allowed to send and receive two letters or postcards per month.Letters could not exceed four pages of 15 lines each and had to be clearly legible. To bypass the camp's strict censorship board, a stamped red warning explicitly stated that only the German language was permitted (Nur deutsche Sprache zulässig). Unclear or non-compliant letters were destroyed. The faint, purple ink stamp in the middle of the front side is a two-line boxed stamp (Zensur-Ra2) used by the SS mail censorship office (Postprüfstelle) at the Hamburg-Neuengamme concentration camp.
These stamps typically read "Postzensur K.L.N. / zensiert" (with K.L.N. standing for Konzentrationslager Neuengamme) or included the specific examiner's shorthand code.

The sender was Marian Kowalczyk, a Polish political prisoner. He was registered with Prisoner Number 18708 and assigned to Block 9. 

Written on the back of the card, Marian’s message is a deeply moving testament to the isolation and anxiety experienced by concentration camp inmates, focusing heavily on the well-being of his family:
He begins with the standard formula required by camp censorship, stating that he is in good health and hoping the same for his wife.
Urgent Request for News: He begs Wiktoria to write to him every fortnight (14 days) and asks her to reply immediately upon receiving this postcard.

Historical records from the Neuengamme Memorial reveal he was a bricklayer by trade. Tragically, he died on May 3, 1945, during the British bombardment of the prisoner ship Cap Arcona in the Bay of Neustadt, just days before the end of the war.
