Official prisoner's envelope (Häftlingspost) sent from the Auschwitz concentration camp (25 Nov 1943) to the occupied Polish territories (Generalgouvernement). It features printed camp regulations on the front, a handwritten address, postal stamps, and the prisoner's registration details on the reverse side.

Sender was Stanisław Załęski (born July 28, 1910) with prisoner number 1877 (registered in Block 3a)
The stamp is a red 12-Pfennig Third Reich stamp featuring Adolf Hitler, cancelled by the Auschwitz postmark, along with a circular red SS censor stamp.

The very low registration number 1877 proves that Stanisław Załęski was deported to Auschwitz in the summer of 1940 (the camp opened in May 1940).
At this early stage, the vast majority of prisoners were Polish political prisoners, intellectuals, or resistance members targeted during the German attack on Poland.
Since the letter is dated late November 1943, this document confirms that Załęski had miraculously survived more than three and a half years under the lethal conditions of the camp, where the average life expectancy was typically just a few months.
