(USA), franked airmail stamp 25pf and 50pf (Germany) canceled by the Friedrichshafen airmail postmark, and 2c (USA) canceled postmark East Orange on August 20, 1929 on the back side (the stamp was attached already in the USA)

Germany / Weimar Republic (1919-1932)

It was delivered by airmail to Hamburg, red overprint "Mit Luftpost befördert Hamburg 1" then delivered by airmail to Bremerhaven, carmine overprint "Mit Luftpost befördert Bremerhaven" and by catapult mail on board the ship "Bremen" which had already left the port, red overprint "Mit Luftpost zum D. 'Bremen' befördert", "Mit catapultflug". August 20, 1929 was sent by catapult mail to New York, red oval stamp "Deutscher Katapultflug D. "Bremen" – New York". Arrived at East Orange N.J., August 20, 1929. Also of interest is the recipient, A.C. Roessler, a legend of American philately, who published the magazine Air Plane Stamp News and designed and printed the signature airmail envelopes with a double bar (Double Bar Air Mail Envelope) and the signature marking "A.C." Roessler"), just such an envelope was sent to him. Apparently, it was in his collection
